DESCRIPTION

Symbolizing the elegance, nobility, and freedom of nature, the "Pheasant" (Sülün) is a unique work of art brought to life through the distinctive vision of ceramic artist Atila Çakır.

Each Pheasant is entirely handcrafted using the Raku technique—one of the most specialized methods in traditional Japanese ceramic art. After being fired in kilns at temperatures of approximately 950–1000°C, the pieces undergo the Raku process, which involves rapid cooling and reduction. The traces left by fire, smoke, and minerals on the ceramic surface create one-of-a-kind color transitions, metallic reflections, and natural patterns.

Artist Atila Çakır interprets the pheasant figure as a timeless symbol that reflects the grace of nature and the aesthetic balance of life. The harmony of purple, turquoise, red, deep blue, and gold tones across the ceramic surface gives each piece its own distinct character.

The Pheasant you select will embody the color and form shown in the images. However, due to the entirely handmade Raku production process, the flow of the glaze and the natural effects that emerge on the surface result in unique details for every individual piece. This quality transforms each Pheasant into a one-of-a-kind collector’s item.

More than just a decorative object, the Pheasant is a unique work of art that embodies the elegance, freedom, and aesthetic harmony of nature—bearing the indelible marks of both fire and the artist.

Ceramic artist Atila Çakır is known for his original works that blend traditional ceramic techniques with a contemporary aesthetic. Focusing particularly on the Raku technique, he transforms the spontaneous beauty arising from the natural interaction between earth, fire, and glaze into a unique interpretation in every piece.

Atila Çakır’s work is characterized by nature-inspired figures, elegant forms, and striking color transitions. Reinterpreting symbolic figures—such as sparrows, peacocks, elephants, owls, and whirling dervishes—through his own artistic lens, he treats each piece not merely as a decorative object, but as a work of art that carries a story and an emotion.

As these pieces are entirely handcrafted, no two works are exactly alike—a defining characteristic of the Raku technique. The direction of the fire, the flow of the glaze, and the natural effects that emerge during the firing process render each piece a singular, unrepeatable collector’s item.

Atila Çakır’s works aim to bring an artistic touch to living spaces by uniting the refinement of traditional craftsmanship, a modern design sensibility, and the unique spirit of handmade art.
